I am extremely lucky that I never have to wear foundation. I have always had fairly clear skin. I would attribute this to the fact that my skin is very naturally dry, so I never have to deal with an oily complexion, and that I have a very consistent nightly skincare routine. I have been asked by many people about how I keep my skin clear, bump-free, and moisturized, so here is what I do every night to keep my skin clear.
One thing that I recently started incorporating into my routine is using an electric facial cleanser. Since I never struggled with bad acne, the $200 price-point of a Clarisonic brush never seemed worth it to me. But after realizing that the makeup wipes I had been using for years did not fully remove my makeup, I decided to find a cheaper alternative. This one from Vanity Planet is a fourth of the price and comes with three different brush heads.
Sorry to show you a gross photo of the dirty brush head- but I love how it shows the makeup I was missing before using just the wipes. I mostly use the silicon brush head, and then go in with a regular brush one to make sure I get every last bit of makeup off my face.
After washing my face I apply the Clinique clarifying lotion and a retinol cream. The Clinique lotion has been a family favorite in my household for years. I apply it all over my face, or use it to spot treat a blemish. Within 48 hours of applying it on a zit, it is completely gone. I decided to with a basic Retinol cream because it is one of the most effective ways to prevent wrinkles and to boost collagen production. I wake up every morning with my skin feeling super smooth and hydrated.
Lastly, after the retinol cream is nearly dried I roll over my skin with a jade roller. I do this to reduce puffiness and to relax before going to sleep.
After it is all said and done, I am ready to go to bed and to wake up with my skin feeling refreshed.
I do not really waver from this routine, but once or twice a week I will do a cream or a sheet mask. My favorite right now is the Glossier moisturizing moon mask.
